Pier 1 Hotel and Residential Development Proposals Presentation

Here is the slideshow from the presentation at Borough Hall on November 22nd. The public has until December 22nd to submit comments. We suggest that rather than picking one design — although you are welcome to do so — you focus on those aspects (features and functions) in each proposal towards which you feel favorably.

i like the buildings that have grass coming off roof, cascading down…
to soften up the building… and make it blend with park and welcoming atmosphere… i hope any hotel will have a large pool so neighbors can swim
    there for a very nominal fee…. !!!!!!!

Each and every hideous proposal made me more ill than a serious bout of food poisoning. The buildings are uglier than anything this planet has ever seen. The designs are totally out of keeping with Fulton Ferry, Brooklyn Heights, and Dumbo. The architects should have their licenses revoked.

Natasha’s comments are too kind. None of these renderings fit with the neighborhood. If these designs are all the department has to choose from we are in trouble.

@Lisa A “floating pool” open to the public is planned for the next 5 summers at the Park, under a new agreement signed this year, although it still remains unfunded. The Park had one earlier, in the summer of 2007, and it drew 50,000 some visitors.

While all designs appear intrusive, the Excell – Westin Hotel one, seems to fit in better, with the Neighborhood than the others.

I would also like to see, tour busses accommodated, Allow them to drop passengers, layover and then safely & legally pick up their tourists, without annoying the residents of the neighborhood. Please remember tourism is the #1 NY business in numbers of people employed. Work with them.

These are awful! The renderings are of such poor quality it just adds to the misery. Someone give us a decent option!
